             GAELSCOIL ÉANNA                                                    VIP Guest to Gaelscoil Éanna An-jab déanta ag páistí Ghaelscoil Éanna Déardaoin, chuaigh siad i bhfeidhm go mór ar chuairteoirí speisialta ar chuid mhór leibhéal – ardmholadh tuillte acu!! VIP guests were highly impressed by Gaelscoil pupils on Thursday, a display of song, dance, Irish traditional music, poetry, art work and sporting abilities laid on by pupils was magnificent. Gaelscoil staff were very proud and our collective efforts and achievements as a school community received great praise from Council Member Daniel Dromm, who is the Chair of the New York City Education Committee, which is responsible for the largest school district in America as well as from principals from other Irish Medium School. School Payments:  It is imperative that all monies come in on a weekly basis, enveloped and marked clearly with child’s name.  Already this year we have noticed that some monies have not been paid and we will have to send reminder letters soon. A big thank you to all who pay on time!!!  Lunches: Gaelscoil Éanna advocates a Healthy Eating Policy – no sweets, chocolate bars, fizzy drinks etc are permitted for break or in lunch bags. Please do not send any of these with your child’s lunch as this puts pressure on other children to have the same.  Such items if present will have to be confiscated!!! Traffic Calming:  All parents should be driving slowly with due care and diligence on the lane and around car park – new signs to be erected in coming weeks. Princess Trust: One of our princess pupils, Saoirse Maginn, Rang 4 is set to cut and donate her beautiful hair to the Princess Trust.  Saoirse hopes that her hair, which will be used to create a wig, will make a poorly little girl smile.  Saoirse, like many of us, has been touched by the thought of the on going battle against leukaemia being fought currently by another wee star GSÉ pupil Cian McGrath, Rang 4.  Anyone who would like to make a kind donation or to spur Saoirse on with comments should access the following link; www.justgiving.com/Saoirse Donations are to Little Princess Trust. Reminder of class finishing times: It has come to the attention of Maighréad that there is some confusion around finishing time for classes on a Friday afternoon.  Rang 1/2/3    – Day ends at 2pm Rang 4/5/6/7 – Day ends at 2.45pm officially similarly to other week days. It is optional for parents with younger children to pick up older siblings if they so wish at 2pm but all others should remain with teacher until 2.45pm.  This is to try and avoid car park congestion. Cumann Óige: Cumann Óige Friday evening on site 6.45pm – 8.15pm, tuck shop available. Cost £2.00. Children who are not registered can sign up tonight, cost £5.00. All children must bring a bottle of water. Lá Oscailte Naíscoil / Gaelscoil Éanna Open Day: Parents are asked to share the following information with any friends/family who might be interested; Naíscoil / Gaelscoil Éanna cordially invites you to attend an Open Day on: Saturday 21st  November 2015, from 12 – 2pm. Parents, children, extended family members and friends are welcome to come in to view our facilities. A great opportunity to meet the teaching and supervisory staff and to gain an insight into the educational provision offered at the only Irish medium pre-school and primary school in the borough of Newtownabbey. Curriculum Meetings: Curriculum meetings for all year groups will be conducted week commencing 26th October. Bíonn an comórtas lonnaithe idir Éirinn agus Albain ó bhliain go bliain agus den chéad uair riamh beidh an fhéile in Uladh i mbliana. Ag tógáil ar rath an chomórtais ar na mallaibh, beidh tús curtha i mbliana le comórtas camógaíochta chomh maith le comórtas faoi aois, agus Gaelcholáiste Dhoire ag cur foirne san iomaíocht in éadan na nAlbanach. I ndiaidh dul i mbun catha ar an Pháirc beidh céiliúradh mór sa tráthnóna le go leor ceoil, damhsa agus spraoi don teaghlach ar fad.
